September from the bench

As we sat down at the fly tying bench for this month, September. It still feels like summer so we’ll continue tying baitfish style flies to resemble the scaled sardines or pilchards that are so prevalent and a favorite of our local gamefish. In addition, as we’re still receiving good amounts of rain providing more fresh water runoff and increased tannins, we’ll add some darker brown color patterns to help match this evolving habitat. Of course, we’ll still keep a good collection of clousers, seaducers, and bend backs as these are always great all around patterns.
