I just spent my first couple days since the storm in Pine Island Sound. Most of the mangroves have been stripped of their foliage and the turtle grass on my favorite flats have been beat up but are still there and seemed to survive in tact. We fished on a new moon with a good tide and the spotted sea trout were still there and chewed pretty good on the low water whether the tide was coming in or going out. We threw clousers and whether we tied on a chartreuse, white, or red pattern, it didn’t matter. The water was still pretty beat up deep in the backcountry with dirty muddy water and lots of mangrove debris scattered all over the flats. As a result, I didn’t spend any time looking for redfish or snook on my favorite shorelines.
