Pine Island Sound

This estuary is also influenced by strong tidal flow. Boca Grande, Captiva, and Redfish Pass all contribute. It supports the largest expanse of turtle grass flats within the Charlotte Harbor watershed and is one of the best areas to sight fish redfish. Moreover, when conditions are right it’s not unusual to find them tailing. In Spring, when the water temperature hits 75 degrees it’s a good spot to look for laid up tarpon on some of the deeper flats.
