July from the bench

As we sat down at the fly tying bench for this month, July.  It’s mid summer and we’re working mangrove country for redfish, snook and juvenile tarpon. For the most part, we’re throwing baitfish flies to imitate the scaled sardines and threadfin herring that are most prevalent. Depending on just how far we’re working up into brackish water will determine fly color.
