As we approach months end, limited rainfall has kept the upper harbor relatively clear allowing good visibility and sight fishing opportunities. Both the east and west sides are holding snook, redfish, and spotted sea trout. Also, with the wind starting to lay down first thing in the morning, it’s getting easier to look for rolling tarpon just outside the bars on both sides. There have also been quite a few sharks, mainly bulls, pushing up onto the flats in some pretty shallow water. They’re on the prowl and can be sight fished with a soft plastic or fly. Its also been encouraging to see large schools of threadfin herring pushing onto the bar systems on the incoming tides as well as good numbers of ladyfish which are both a favorite of our tarpon.
