Redfish prowl the same shorelines as snook but can also be found out on open grass flats. In fact, they tend to group up in areas of clear water with lots of turtle grass. They’re a great fish to sight fish on low winter tides. They’re a great fighter that bull dogs the fight. You can feel their head shaking back and forth as they try to pull the fly from their mouth.

In its own rite, the large shallow clear grass flats where they live is also beautiful country. There’s no better place to spend a cool winter morning. This and the sight fishing aspect is what I enjoy most about hunting these fish.
