Charlotte Harbor fishing report

The story this week is that we’re finally seeing good amounts of rain throughout our estuary system. This is very beneficial as it helps flush out lots of the dead grass thats accumulated from the summer’s heat. This is especially true on the harbor’s east side south of Punta Gorda and across the harbor on our west wall that really aren’t close enough to the Intracoastal waterway and area passes. The rain also helps oxygenate the water in the backcountry as many of our redfish and snook have been hanging closer to shorelines adjacent to the open harbor. They want to begin pushing their way back this time of year as fall approaches and this will surely help. For the most part, fishing has been more consistent around flats and shorelines adjacent to the intracoastal from Gasparilla down to northern Pine Island Sound and the rain should help improve our fishing towards the top of the harbor.
